“It’s Showtime” continues to give Filipinos a chance to shine and show their talent in “Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids,” following the recently concluded “Tawag ng Tanghalan” grand finals that hit an all-time high nationwide rating for the noontime show.
The kiddie version of the singing competition began Monday (March 13) and named John Clyd Talili of Mindanao its first daily winner and defending champion.
“Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids” will no longer use the ‘gong’ to put a stop to a contender’s performance. Also, a defending champion can only win for a maximum of five consecutive days and will be required to turn over the golden microphone to a new champion.
The whole nation, meanwhile, witnessed “Tawag ng Tanghalan” grand champion and farmer Noven Belleza reach his dreams last Saturday (March 11) as the competition’s final showdown hit a record nationwide rating for “It’s Showtime.”
The country’s number one noontime show drew more viewers compared to its rival program, registering an all-time high national TV rating of 33.6%, or almost thrice as high as “Eat Bulaga’s” 11.7%, according to data from Kantar Media.
Netizens also cheered for their favorite contenders and tuned in to the grand finals via livestreaming, which attracted overs 40,000 viewers – one of the highest numbers recorded by the ABS-CBN website.
The hashtag #TnTAngHulingTapatan also became the top trending topic on Twitter worldwide and in the Philippines, while tweets about the grand finalists and the show’s performances occupied 16 out of the 20 local trending topics on the micro-blogging site.
