Kapuso actor Rafael Rosell shared his sentiments over the current administration’s so-called “Death Penalty.”
In an interview with PEP.ph, the actor believes that the said bill is questionable for covering only drug-related cases
He said, “I just think maybe a little unfair na may mga bagay na tinanggal du’n na medyo suportado sa gobyerno.”
The 34-year-old stressed the removal of plunder and rape as crimes punishable by death.
“Wala na yung plunder, di ba? Wala na ‘yung rape. So, you’re ruining someone else’s life. You’re traumatizing them for life, and then ‘yun ang tatanggalin sa death penalty.
“So, ano na lang ang natira, droga? I think we’re in a state na sobrang confused tayo sa kung ano ang droga at kung ano ang gamot,” he added.
The actor then tackled the issue of Marijuana in the Philippines.
He said, “Tingnan mo naman ang marijuana. Hindi pa natin alam kung saan natin i-categorize ‘yan.”
Rafael cited Marijuana as medicine in US and Europe.
“Sa States, gamot na siya. Sa Europe, gamot na siya. So, pag may nagpagamot dito [sa Pilipinas], ano? Is he qualified for the death penalty?
“And knowing how corrupt our government is, at kung gaano kalabo mag-decide at maghusga ang gobyerno, dito pa talaga tayo mag-death penalty.
“Sino ang qualified para maghusga nun?” he asked.
He also stressed, “Replace alcohol. Replace nicotine, replace all those other drugs na ginawang legal, kasi mas delikado ‘yun eh.
“No one ever died of marijuana, na na-overdose.”
He also shared some personal stories that he witnessed the difference of behavior of people are using Marijuana and those who are intoxicated by alcohol.
In the end, Rafael expressed his sadness, saying there are many illness that can be cured by Marijuana.
“I think it’s very sad na it’s illegal dito. There’s so many illnesses na puwedeng ma-cure dahil sa marijuana,” he said.
