Although she won the Yakushi Pearl Award at the 2017 Osaka Asian Film Festival for her performance in the movie “Bliss”, the movie itself has failed to win the taste of Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
Sadly, MTRCB gave the film rated X, which means “Bliss” is unfit for exhibition in local theaters and television.
“Bliss” is a psychological thriller and is believed to be abundant in frontal nudity, excessive violence and masturbation.
According ABS-CBN News, the newly appointed MTRCB chief Rachel Arenas revealed that two out of three board members who reviewed the film gave it with an X rating. Meanwhile, the other one gave it an R-18.
“Their opinion was quite strong na it should be an X,” Arenas told ABS-CBN News reporter MJ Felipe, emphasizing how “Bliss” showed “gratuitous” sex scenes.
The producers of the film, Artikulo Uno, will appeal the MTRCB ruling.
“Bliss” is one of Jerrold Tarog’s newest projects after “Heneral Luna”, a critically acclaimed film and the highest-grossing Filipino historical film of all time.
