Although “I’m Drunk, I Love You” received mostly positive reviews from the fans, it has been greatly suffering to being pulled out entirely from cinemas nationwide.
Exactly one week after it was premiered, the film enjoyed moderate success in the box office as it was released in limited cinemas across the Philippines.
However, due to success of the LizQuen film “My Ex and Whys” and the releases of many international films, “Drunk” was pulled out from many cinemas immediately. This led to lamentation of star Paulo Avelino on Twitter.
At the blogcon of “Drunk,” director JP Habac jested that his film would only last for a week in cinemas. Though he was just joking when he said that, TBA, the producer of the film, appealed to the public to ‘save’ “Drunk” so that it cannot be pull out totally from cinemas in its second week.
The official Twitter account of “Drunk” revealed that on February 22, it was available to only 10 cinemas, mostly in the key cities of Metro Manila.
Because of this, Avelino took again to Twitter to promote the film heavily, while his co-star Maja Salvador encouraged people to watch it.
Fortunately, Salvador announced that they have survived the first week of the film’s showing, as the cinemas increased to more than 20.
As “Drunk” suffers from major pull-outs from the cinemas, Avelino’s and Salvador’s should at least held a block screening like what AlDub Nation and ToMiho fans did to their idols’ respective films. Good luck to Team Drunk!
