In an interview with entertainment site PEP.ph, Kapuso actress Janine Gutierrez admitted that “Legally Blind” is her most difficult project so far.
Equally, her co-star Marc Abaya have felt the same way, revealing that his rape scene with Gutierrez was the most challenging part of his role in the series.
He said, “In my case, I had to objectify her. ‘Cause I have never done it. And wala naman akong balak i-method acting ‘yan.
“I had to actualize it as much as I could. I guess that’s where the job comes in.”
The actor also shared that Gutierrez kept reassuring him that they would do the rape scene in a most professional manner.
“Kinakausap niya ako, nirereassure niya ako, ‘Trabaho lang ‘to,’” he said.
Abaya also revealed that shooting the rape scene was like a dance for him.
“It was a dance for me because every movement was counted 1-2-3-4-5-6,” he explained.
He then continued, “Yung reassurance before the take, I told her, ‘I’m gonna breathe on you. I’m gonna be this close.’ Para ‘pag action na, kahit na autopilot na, it has to be true. You can’t fake it.”
Meanwhile, director Ricky Davao admitted that Gutierrez was the one who’s guiding Abaya in the rape scene.
“Actually, baliktad ‘yung nangyari sa eksena. Dapat ‘yung inaalalayan yung babae.
“Dito, si Marc ang inaalalayan. Napaka-gentle na rapist,” he said.
The afternoon series “Legally Blind” premiered on February 20 and will introduce Gutierrez as a rape victim whose character will get blind as the story progresses.
