The NCAA Season 92 Volleyball Tournament is nearing its end with the historic championship win of the College of Saint Benilde Blazers last Tuesday (February 7) in the Men’s division, while the epic Finals showdown between the Arellano University Lady Chiefs and the San Sebastian Lady Stags continues on Friday (February 10) with their Game 2 airing LIVE on ABS-CBN’s S+A and S+A HD channels, with livestreaming on sports.abs-cbn.com starting 3:30pm.
The Blazers avenged the exit of defending champion Lady Blazers in the Women’s division with a sweep of University of Perpetual Help Altas in their best-of-three title showdown, behind Season MVP Johnvic De Guzman, who finished with 28 points in an epic five-set thriller.
Meanwhile, title-hungry Grethcel Soltones’ quest to bring her school the crown hit a snag after the Lady Stags fell to the Lady Chiefs in Game 1, 18-25, 20-25, 16-25 last Tuesday (February 7). The loss set up a virtual best-of-three showdown between the two schools, with the Lady Stags having a thrice-to-beat advantage after cruising through the regular season with a perfect record.
Led by Regine Arocha, who came out of nowhere to score 14 points to give the Lady Stags their first loss this season, the Lady Chiefs are raring to stage another upset after dethroning the Lady Blazers in the semifinals.
Soltones, meanwhile, will try to prevent another heartbreak after losing in the Finals last season to the Lady Blazers. The outside hitter has been in MVP form year after year for the Red and Gold, and will need all the help she can get as she takes one last shot at glory before graduating from NCAA play.
Before leading the Lady Stags in another championship match, Soltones will be vying for her third straight Most Valuable Player trophy as the NCAA awards the season’s top performers at 3:30pm before the tip-off at the San Juan Arena.
Don’t miss the resumption of heart-pounding volleyball action of the NCAA’s Women’s Division Finals on Friday (February 10), LIVE simultaneously on S+A and S+A HD, and on sports.abs-cbn.com’s livestream starting at 3:30pm.
