Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza’s first ever teleserye “Destined To Be Yours” finally aired its pilot episode on Monday night (February 27) on GMA Telebabad. The AlDub primetime series is said to test AlDub’s popularity since they became phenomenal in 2015. As AlDub takes over GMA Telebabad, it remains to be seen if their overwhelming success on noontime will translate over to primetime.
With high expectations mounting, GMA Network can only hope that Alden and Maine will deliver and reverse course for the seemingly underperforming on the Telebabad block.
Based on the TV ratings on February 27 (Monday) released by AGB Nielsen and Kantar Media, AlDub’s entry on primetime has yet to be felt. It’s a slow start and we’ll see if this is going to pick-up just like what happened to “Encantadia.”
AGB Nielsen’s data shows “Destined To Be Yours” with only 2.9% advantage over it’s rival while on Kantar Media, the AlDub teleserye failed to beat “My Dear Heart” with an 8.9% wide margin.

The AlDub love team was accidentally discovered at the “Juan for All, All for Juan” segment of the noon time television show Eat Bulaga where Maine portrayed the character of a housemaid and Alden as himself. Due to the strong chemistry between the two main characters, their budding romance caught the attention of the audience and the first ever ‘kalyeserye’ began.
Their first ever movie “My Bebe Love: #Kilig Pa More” set the highest domestic opening day record with ₱60,462,169.57 during the 2015 MMFF. In 2016, Vice Ganda and Coco Martin’s “The Super Parental Guardians” broke AlDub’s record with ₱70 million gross on opening day in cinemas nationwide.
