Philippines bet to the 65th Miss Universe Maxine Medina received bashing when netizens noticed her grammatical errors while she was speaking to the media during a press conference.
Though Medina was said to have improved well during their seven-month training, to some netizens, it’s still not enough for her to be able to shine in Miss Universe.
This issue made Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chairman Liza Diño to react.
Diño wrote on her Facebook account, “Focus on her strength. Hindi nya kailangang piliting magpakabihasa sa Ingles para Lang magkaroon ng edge para manalo.”
She also suggested, “Bakit Hindi Kumuha ng translator para mas Malaya nyang masasagot ang mga tanong?”
Medina is the Philippines’ bet for an unprecedented back-to-back wins in the competition. She will look to succeed Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2015.
