At the successful blogcon of his self-titled deluxe edition album, Jason Dy shares his views on OPM about its current status in the Philippines.
For Jason, OPM is still relevant among the Filipinos. “Personally, OPM right now is thriving, it’s alive and kicking,” the singer said. “There are a lot of talented artist from the past and the present…” he added.
When we asked him about the things that an OPM artist must enrich, Jason answered “Kailangan lang siguro ng tamang exposure, kailangan ng tamang outlet para marinig ng mga tao yung galing ng musikang Pilipino.”
Ultimately, Jason has message to people who claim that OPM is ‘dead:’ “Kailangan lang nating maging open-minded sa mga bagong tunog, sa mga bagong type ng genre… we have to listen to new Filipino artists din. Kailangan, bukas `yung isip natin sa pag-consume ng iba’t-ibang type ng music.”
Jason invites us to grab the deluxe copy of his self-titled album under MCA Music. His collaborative single “Nothing Like Pag-Ibig” featuring Malaysian superstar Fazura is set to be released on January 20.
