10. Irma Adlawan
Ironically, Irma Adlawan’s role in the MMFF 2016 entry “Oro” was first offered to Nora Aunor, who did a day’s work on the movie but was replaced in the project. This project gave Irma her very first MMFF Best Actress award beating the Superstar, Eugene Domingo in the category.
9. KathNiel
The remake of “Pangako Sa ’Yo” ended with a bang earlier this year. Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla may have rested in few months but their comeback movie “Barcelona: A Love Untold” is definitely a hit movie. The movie opened with ₱23 million and closed with more than ₱300 million worldwide.
8. Paolo Ballesteros
He faced suspension at the start but he ended 2016 with a bang! Paolo Ballesteros won multiple Best Actor trophies from MMFF 2016 and in international awards. He maybe an underrated star… but that was before and his hit movie “Die Beautiful” shows how many more Paolo can offer other than being a noontime host and comedian.
