“Thank You Ang Babait Ninyo,” the theme song of ABS-CBN’s 2014 Christmas Station campaign, made it to the “12 Songs of Christmas (from all around the world)” list published by the website Aleteia.org, a worldwide Catholic network.
The song, which featured the finalists of “The Voice Kids Philippines Season 1,” was chosen alongside Christmas hymns from countries Spain, Finland, Ireland, Lebanon, Venezuela, Italy, France, USA, Poland, Nigeria, and England.
Aleteia’s cultural commentator Matthew Becklo, who came up with the list, described the song as “lighthearted and fun” and a “refreshing anthem of humility, hope, and gratitude” in his post on the website last 23 Dec 2016.
“Thank You Ang Babait Ninyo” is written by Robert Labayen, Lloyd Oliver Corpuz, and Love Rose de Leon of the ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management (CCM), with music by Amber and Marcus Davis. It was sung by Lyca Gairanod, Darren Espanto, Juan Karlos Labajo, and Darlene Vibares. The song project was supervised by Johnny de los Santos, also of CCM.
With a positive message of giving gratitude to people who have touched and inspired our lives, the song instantly went viral when it debuted in 2014. As of January 2016, its recording video already has over 17 million views on YouTube, while the ABS-CBN 2014 Christmas Station ID featuring the song has more than 2.5 million views.
This recognition follows the nomination of “Thank You for the Love,” ABS-CBN’s 2015 Christmas Station ID as “Most Popular Video of the Philippines” in the 2016 WebTVAsia Awards.
Meanwhile, “Isang Pamilya Tayo Ngayong Pasko,” last year’s station ID, also continues to inspire even after the Christmas season. Featuring Kapamilya executives, stars, and journalists together with Filipinos that have overcome challenges, the station ID has garnered over 2.6 million views on Youtube, with its recording video already approaching the 5 million views mark.
ABS-CBN shares these victories with Filipino families all over the world that have made the Kapamilya network a part of their homes, and have included ABS-CBN’s Christmas Station IDs and songs in their Christmas traditions.
