6. Mel Tiangco
News caster and television host Mel Tiangco was once the roster of ABS-CBN News from 1987 to 1996. However, the newscaster left the station due to misunderstandings with her contract.
According some rumors, it was stipulated in the contract signed by Mel that newscasters of ABS-CBN are not allowed to do any product endorsement. However, Mel still chose to endorse a detergent product that led to her suspension from work without pay.
Because of these, a legal battle had raised between ABS-CBN and Mel Tiangco, which eventually became the newscaster’s reason to leave her beloved network.
5. Sharon Cuneta
When TV5 revitalized itself, Sharon was the one who had chose to transfer from ABS-CBN due to a ONE BILLION talent fee offer. After 23 years in the network, Cuneta signed a 5-year exclusive contract with then-mighty network. The Kapamilya network released its official statement stating “we will truly miss her.”
But, we all know the saying that “there is no place like home.” So after only three years, the Megastar decided to pre-terminate her contract with TV5 and signed a contract with ABS-CBN a year later. The actress announced her return on ABS-CBN through her Facebook page and posted, “It is overwhelmingly wonderful! There’s really no place like home. I don’t belong to anywhere else, and now I’m back home, safe and sound.”
