Star Cinema’s “The Super Parental Guardians” starring Vice Ganda and Coco Martin is still showing in over 70 theaters nationwide despite the start of the screenings of the movie entries from the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2016) on Christmas Day.
After breaking box office opening record of ₱75 million on November 30, “The Super Parental Guardians” has earned ₱250 million in six days and after five weeks in theaters, the has already reached ₱500 million mark just before the showing of MMFF 2016 movies according to Star Cinema executive Roxy Liquigan.
Now considered PH’s highest grossing local film, “The Super Parental Guardians” is about a tough-talking gang leader (Coco Martin) forced to take care of his orphaned nephews with a gay friend of his late sister-in-law.
The film is Vice Ganda and Martin’s follow-up to their massively successful “Beauty and the Bestie,” which holds the record for the highest grossing Filipino film of all time. The movie also features the big-screen debut of child actors Simon “Onyok” Pineda and Awra Briguela.
