ABS-CBN, the country’s leading media and entertainment company, extends its winning streak in student award-giving bodies after bringing home major awards for television, radio, print, and online at the recent Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ (PUP) Mabini Media Awards last week.
The Kapamilya Network, which is now rapidly transitioning into a digital company, brought home a total of 19 trophies, including Station of the Year for ABS-CBN, Best AM Radio Station of Year for DZMM Radyo Patrol 630, Best Fashion and Lifestyle Magazine for Metro Magazine, and Best Online News Website for News.abs-cbn.com.
ABS-CBN Integrated News & Current Affairs led the winners with 10 nods including Best Morning Program for “Umagang Kay Ganda,” Best Educational Program for “Matanglawin”, Best Sports Program for “Sports U,” Best Public Affairs Program for “Failon Ngayon,” Best AM Radio News Program for “Radyo Patrol Balita,” and Best AM Radio News Commentary Program for “Dos Por Dos.”
Broadcast journalists Karen Davila and Anthony Taberna were also awarded Best Female News Anchor and Best AM Radio Commentary Program Host, respectively.
ABS-CBN also took home the major awards in the entertainment category. Leading the way is Coco Martin’s “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” which won Best Primetime Drama Series, “It’s Showtime” (Best Variety Show), “Be My lady” (Best Daytime Drama Series), “Gandang Gabi Vice” (Best Talk Show), and “The Voice Kids” (Best Game/Reality Show).
The company’s flagship FM radio station, MOR 101.9, also had a successful night with DJ Chacha Babes winning Best FM Female DJ and her program “Heartbeats with Chacha Babes” being awarded as Best FM Program.
The PUP Mabini Media Awards is the largest students’ choice award-giving body aiming to give recognition to outstanding media practitioners, networks, programs, and radio stations that are exemplary models to communication students.
With this win, ABS-CBN received its 8th Best Station Award from a student award giving body this year. ABS-CBN is home to the nation’s top-rating TV programs, box-office films, and best-selling books and music. With the ability to harness the latest in technology and innovation, the company is rapidly transitioning into an agile digital company with the biggest online presence among all media companies, and a growing list of digital properties.
