Blogger Mocha Uson has been appointed as the new Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Ambassador of 2016. During a press conference at Malacañang, Mocha said that she will use social media to help promote the entries of the MMFF. Mocha also noted that the government and the public had failed to support Filipino filmmakers before.

“Ngunit ngayong may opportunity na po na suportahan, sinusuportahan na po sila ng gobyerno kailangan pong tangkilikin din ang mga films dito sa MMFF ng masang Pilipino at tutulong po ako sa social media at sa mga ibang paraan para po hikayatin ang ating mga kababayan,” Mocha said.
Mocha said it was Tim Orbos, chairman of the Metro Manila Film Fest 2016, who called her personally to help promote the new standards of the MMFF.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday (December 20), Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Chairman shared her reaction regarding MMDA’s decision to appoint the controversial blogger as this year’s MMFF ambassadress. She wrote, “ON MOCHA USON’s INVOLVEMENT with MMFF2016
YES. It is true that the MMFF execom agreed to have Miss Uson as one of our MMFF ADVOCATES. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Alam naman nating lahat na marami s’yang followers so since very unorthodox din ang mga marketing strategies ngayon to promote the film festival itself, malaking tulong ang pagpromote nya sa mga pelikulang kalahok. Walang masama to give value to her social media influence.
According to her, she believes in the vision of MMFF. Of course, who would not welcome anyone who supports the film fest? Our vision is towards diversity and inclusivity. In fact, we encourage you all to come out and show your solidarity by watching ALL the films come december 25 and share the good word with friends.
Mas marami, mas masaya.❤️ Ano pa hinihintay ninyo?#BeanMMFFAdvocate #CountdowntoMMFF2016 #MMFFMusings”
