After all the rumors (and lies) associated with the planning and staging of the most prestigious beauty pageant in the World, err, the Universe, rather – the Miss Universe is all systems GO, as officially announced by the Pageant Organizing Committee last Wednesday night, November 16that Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City.
Present during the contract signing and the Miss Universe Official Announcement to the select members of local and international media are LCS Group of Companies’ Chairman Luis Chavit Singson, Miss Universe Organization Vice President for Business Development, Shawn McClain along with Mr Kazuo Okada of Okada Manila, Mr Wilson Tieng of Solar Entertainment Television, Mr. Hans Sy of SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc., Mr Ricky Alegre (for Sec. Wanda Tulfo Teo) of the Department of Tourism and Jonas Antonio Gaffud of Aces and Queens Beauty Training Camp / Mercator Artist and Model Management, among others.
Beamed in over 190 countries and territories, watched by over 500 million viewers around the globe, the pageant is expected to bring the Philippines at the forefront of global tourism, through this momentous event – the 65th Miss Universe Pageant to be held on Saturday, January 30, 2017 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) in Pasay City.
The most beautiful candidates from over eighty (80) competing countries will fly in to the Philippines. Expected to boost tourism revenues to stratospheric levels, people from all over the world are expected to book flights, hotels, cars and restaurants in Manila and neighboring cities to attend the event spanning several days (official pageant events will happen January 12-30, 2016 all over the islands of the Philippines – Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Davao, among others).
This year’s Philippine delegate is Maxine Medina, after last year’s most controversial win by another Filipina (our country’s 3rd Miss Universe), Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (Host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia as the winner, initially).
