Namesakes of the world’s famous mouse are at the helm of the fully licensed Disney concert, “Tale as Old as Time” happening on Saturday (Nov 19) at 8pm and Sunday (Nov 20) at 3pm at the Kia Theater.
Mickey Muñoz, the head of ABS-CBN Events, takes charge of stage direction and Mickey Perz, PBB 2007 2nd Big Placer and a full-time choreographer, dons the role of movement director. The two met 10 years ago when Muñoz was part of the Pinoy Big Brother team that auditioned Perz in Milan, Italy.
Muñoz had previously stage directed “The Music of Ryan Cayabyab” at the CCP Main Theater (2014), “The Magic of John Williams” Theater at Solaire (2015) and most of the shows involving the ABS-CBN Orchestra.
Perz was a part of ASAP and other ABS-CBN Specials as dancer and choreographer and had acting assignments for TV and movies.
“Mickey Perz was choreographer for one of our recent big concerts and his fun-filled but firm teaching skills plus his excellent ability to tell a good story through dance impressed us a lot,” Muñoz muses. “I guess we work well together as we are both optimistic, whimsical, sometimes aggressive coupled with a little bit of mischief – traits that are common as well with Mickey Mouse”.
“Disney in Concert: Tale as Old Time” is a fully-licensed Disney show that features orchestral suite arrangements of classic Disney songs alongside high resolution animated sequences from well-loved movies like “Cinderella”, “The Lion King”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Mulan”, “Aladdin”, “The Little Mermaid” and a lot more – including hits from recent crowd-favorites “Tangled” and “Frozen”.
The concert also features live vocal performances by Kapamilya artists Janella Salvador, Morissette, Tim Pavino, Julia & Talia Concio along with theater luminaries Carla Guevara-Laforteza, Tanya Manalang, Jef Flores, Arman Ferrer, the Vocal Synergy plus the special participation of Ms. Bituin Escalante.
The ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra will be under the music direction of Maestro Gerard Salonga.
This musical celebration is certain to remind the young and young at heart that through the magical storytelling of the Disney songs and films we grew up with, wishes can be made on stars, hope is eternal and love conquers all.
