Dingdong Dantes is one of the few lucky Kapuso stars who were able to do a movie project under the rival movie outfits of GMA Films including Star Cinema, Viva Films, Regal Films and some other independent filmmakers.
In an article published by PEP.ph, Dingdong thanked Star Cinema for getting him again for the fourth time to do a movie titled “The Unmarried Wife,” this time with Angelica Panganiban and Paulo Avelino.
He added, “We should also be thankful na ang ating movie industry is in a better position than where it was probably years ago dahil mas marami na pong napo-produce na movies at marami na ring bagong artista.”
Considered a loyal Kapuso, Dingdong was able to make 3 films from ABS-CBN film production arm alone – “Segunda Mano” (2011), “One More Try” (2012), and “She’s The One” (2013). These 3 movies were considered box office hits, the main reason why Dingdong can now be considered a box office star, more than just a regular TV and movie star.
In this era where anyone can be a celebrity via internet, it’s really hard to prove one’s value. And box office on movies suggest one’s capacity to draw from a market who spends money for their idols.
