More than a decade after she played the iconic female heroine “Darna,” Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin has been chosen to reprise the role.
After “The Third Party,” it looks like Angel Locsin is busy again preparing her body for her much awaited comeback as “Darna,” this time on the big screen.
On Instagram, fitness trainer Billy James shared, “Abangan Soon, Ang Pag Ukit Ko Kay 👊 #thankgod #thankyoulord #godisgood #soblessed #blesedallthedaysofmylife #thanksforthehelpguys #solidfriends #brotherhoodforlife #thankyou #thankyouforbelievinginme #iloveyoulord #iloveyoumamamaryprayforus #amen 🙏”
In another Instagram post shared by Ogie Diaz, Angel was under the training of Billy James, “Parang nakalimutan ko nang selfie yung ginagawa ko dahil sa babaeng maganda sa likod ko. Hulaan nyo kung sino ang tinuturuan ni @billyjamescash ng @billyjamesfitnesscenter.”
“Darna” is an iconic Filipina fictional hero created by the famous Filipino graphic novelist that was thrust into Filipino consciousness upon its release in comic book in the early 1950s. She is famous for her incredible strength, speed and invulnerability.
After much deliberation as to who will act as the remarkable Pinay hero in the big screen and after considering different actresses, all fit in their own way to play Darna, Star Cinema head Malou Santos ended all speculations. She announced that the role belonged to Angel Locsin, one of the most remarkable actresses who ever played Mars Ravelo’s protagonist.
Last year, the actress declined being considered for the role due to bulging disc she had been diagnosed with, resulting from the stunts she herself had performed in her previous projects.
