For being in showbiz for 30 years, Judy Ann Santos knows how it works. She’s one of the few actors in the industry who lasted this long and consistently keep her spark alive for three decades.
Cinemalaya 2016 entry “Kusina”
She’s currently promoting her upcoming Cinemalaya entry titled “Kusina,” her much awaited return after giving birth last January. The movie revolves around the kitchen that serves as the silent witness to the life and love of Juanita. It is her sanctuary, the place where she creates dishes for her family, her friends, even enemies and strangers. Through cooking, she gets to know the people around her, and in return, reveal herself to them.
On Maine Mendoza’s blog post “That’s How It Works”
As one of the self-confessed AlDub celebrity fans since the beginning, Judy Ann was also asked about her reaction to Maine Mendoza’s blog post about showbiz.
In an interview with PEP.ph, Judy Ann admitted that she haven’t met yet Maine, it’s only Alden Richards, who joined them in gym, also spent breakfast in their house. In regards to Maine’s blog post, Judy Ann reacted, “With Maine, I totally understand where she’s coming from, kasi hindi naman talaga siya nanggaling sa pagiging artista, di ba? Biglaan lahat ito sa kanya so nakaka-overwhelm ang buhos ng atensiyon sa kanya and everybody is expecting so much from her.”
Noting that Maine is still young, Judy Ann said, “Siya bilang tao, bilang bata, parang nadi-deprive na siya ng mga bagay na gusto niyang gawin personally. Nadya-judge siya sa mga ginagawa niya kasi people are expecting so many things from her, and hindi siya dapat magpa-pressure sa ganun.”
Judy Ann agreed with Maine’s stand on she wouldn’t change just to please people. “Tama naman sa sinabi niya na, ‘Ako ito. Tanggapin niyo ako kung sino ako.’ Huwag nating baguhin ang bata. Yun siya. Kasi pag binago natin ang isang tao, magiging malungkot siya. Kumbaga, huwag natin siyang angkinin. We don’t own her. Maine doesn’t owe anything from anybody,” she said.

Judy Ann also added, being real is one of the major reasons why the Maine instantly won the hearts of the masses. She said, “Kung yun ang nagustuhan sa kanya, huwag siyang baguhin kasi tao lang siya. Hindi naman siya manika na binuo sa factory at puwedeng baguhin anytime they want. If they really love Maine, as supporters, they have to understand where she’s coming from. Kung bashers naman sila, ang magiging payo ko lang kay Maine, bashers will always be bashers.”
