“Eat Bulaga” host and Senator Tito Sotto makes the news again, in typical Tito Sotto style.
When a woman who’d won their contest in “Eat Bulaga” revealed that she was sexually abused, Tito Sotto reacted by “blaming the victim for drinking too much and possibly wearing short shorts.”

Here’s the transcript of the conversation:
Tito Sotto: Kasalanan ng lahat ng iyan, yung pag inom. Yung pa-shat shat. Kababae mong tao, pa shat-shat ka?
(audience cheering)
Jose Manalo: Hindi, tama yun. Umiinom ka na, naka-short ka pa?
TS: Naka-shorts?
JM: Naka-shorts!
Allan K: Gaano ka-iksi? Gaano ka-iksi yang shorts na yan?
(Jose Manalo hikes up shorts, audience cheering)
AK: Ano bang tawag sa shorts na yan?
Wally Bayola: Ngyort!
JM: Tapos naka-ganun pa. (raises up a leg to his seat)
WB: Oh, shat na, shat na! (mimes passing a shot glass)
(Jose Manalo acts out drinking a shot glass while intoxicated)
No matter which point of view we try to look at it, there’s nothing here that makes what the hosts of “Eat Bulaga” said as something acceptable. How dare you put down that woman after expressing how she was sexually harassed? Where’s the respect?
We just hope, Sen. Sotto knows that in a civilized nation just like Philippines (we believe), legs are not provocative, shorts are not indecent, alcohol consumption is not an excuse, skin is not supposed be arousing if there’s anything wrong in the world then that would be their malicious, misogynistic and horrible souls.
What made us sad are the laughter in the crowd showing that we’re lightyears apart from influencing the masses of valuing and respecting women.
