ABS-CBN Foundation chairwoman Gina Lopez has accepted the offer to head the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) of the next administration.

“After much introspection, I decided to accept it (DENR post). Let’s see what happens,” Lopez confirmed the news to Philippine Daily Inquirer report.
Gina Lopez met with incoming president yesterday (June 20) at the Presidential Guest House, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Panacan Depot in Davao City. Honored by the invitation, Lopez earlier said she would seriously consider the offer. “I am honored with the trust given. I will seriously, seriously consider it,” she said.

A vocal supporter of Duterte during last presidential elections, Gina Lopez is known to oppose controversial mining projects. She is also a staunch critic of using fossil fuels as energy sources. She has campaigned against coal mining, advocating instead that eco-tourism be used to boost local economies.
