ABS-CBN Sports is not letting up in bringing the best of local and international sports to Filipinos with another action-packed weekend coming up co-headlined by the debut of the “Shakey’s V-League” as part of the ABS-CBN Sports family, and the exciting title defense of longest-reigning Filipino world boxing champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes’ on “Pinoy Pride 36: A Legend in the Making,” among other big sporting events airing on Saturday and Sunday on ABS-CBN Sports + Action.
Volleyball never ends in Sports + Action as the famed Shakey’s V-League, which is now on its 13th season, has joined the Kapamilya fold and is set to debut on Saturday (May 28), live on ABS-CBN Sports + Action starting at 4PM for the National University vs Laoag Power Smashers which will have Lady Bulldogs Jaja Santiago and Jorelle Singh face off with their UAAP foes Jema Galanza and Mylene Paat of Adamson University. Following this match is the showdown between the Myla Pablo and Michelle Gumabao-led Pocari Sweat versus the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons powered by talented youngsters Isa Molde and Tots Carlos at 6pm. Not to be outdone, the Beach Volleyball Republic’s National Championship semifinals and finals at the Sands, SM by the Bay will also be aired live on Sports+ Action this Saturday starting at 11am featuring volleyball stars like Bea Tan, Charo Soriano, Dzi Gervacio, and Judy Caballejo.
Down south in Bacolod City, Donnie “Ahas” Nietes tries to further cement his legacy as the longest-reigning Filipino champ when he trades blows with Raul Garcia in “Pinoy Pride 36,” dubbed “A Legend in the Making.” Boxing fans will surely get a treat this Sunday (May 29), 10am when ABS-CBN broadcasts the fight, which features three WBO Asia Pacific Bantamweight Championship fights on the undercard on free TV, while the primetime airing will be at 6pm on ABS-CBN Sports+Action. Also in combat sports will be the telecast of One Chamiponship’s “Kingdom of Champions” fight card on Saturday (May 28) at 10:30pm.
Meanwhile, basketball fans need not sulk for all the hoop fanatics get their fair share of love from the Kapamilya network’s sports arm. On deck for hardcourt action is the ongoing NBA Playoffs where the Eastern Conference Finals can probably end as the Cleveland Cavaliers face the Toronto Raptors as they try to wrap things up on their end on Saturday (May 28) live on ABS-CBN. Collegiate basketball also makes its presence felt as the first Ateneo-La Salle duel, and San Beda-Letran collision of the year is set to take place in the FilOil Flying V 2016 Preseason tournament at the San Juan Arena live on ABS-CBN Sports + Action on Sunday, starting at 2pm.
