Peter Laviña, a spokesperson of Duterte, said they had no intention to quarrel with the media during the vicious lead-up to the May 9 elections.
“Ang isang naging irritant noong kampanya, siyempre in the heat of the campaign eh yung panawagan ng mga social media supporters natin: ‘yung pagbo-boycott sa ABS-CBN. Gusto lang namin maipaabot ang aming paghingi ng paumanhin,” he said.
“There was no intention really to quarrel with the media. Ang pinag-umpisahan naman talaga nun ay ‘yung isang negative ad.”
“Gusto lang namin i-extend ang aming hands of friendship and cooperation sa lahat ng mass media, social media. Alam namin napakahalaga ng papel ng mass media sa ating society and we want to be friends with everyone,” Laviña said.
The camp of presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte apologized Monday for the threat of some of his supporters to boycott several media outfits, including ABS-CBN.
