As expected, the “PiliPinas Debates 2016” aired on GMA Network (February 21), TV5 (March 20) and ABS-CBN (April 24) became the hottest and most-talked about TV special.
GMA Network showed the presidential debate organized by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) live on February 21 at the Capitol University in Cagayan de Oro City. It’s a strong start for “PiliPinas Debates 2016” as it gets 25.3% and 23.8% on AGB Nielsen for Mega Manila and Kantar Media for nationwide respectively.
The next “PiliPinas Debates 2016” hosted by TV5 on March 20 at the Performing Arts Hall at the University of the Philippines campus in Cebu City was delayed for 1 and a half hours and the network apologized to all Filipinos for the broadcast delay of the second leg. TV5’s coverage only got 11.2% and 8.50% on AGB Nielsen for Mega Manila and Kantar Media for nationwide respectively.
ABS-CBN’s Presidential Town Hall Debate last Sunday (April 24) recorded a whopping national TV rating of 40.6%, the highest among the presidential debates in Commission on Elections’ “PiliPinas Debates 2016” presidential debate series – according to AGB Nielsen and Kantar Media.
