Know more about the internet sensation and “kabogable” OFW from Dubai named Jean Nunez. She posted lots of funny videos in Facebook and one of her popular punch line is “transginger” (pertaining to the word “transgender”) which can really bring laughs to her viewers.
Genalyn Ladra, her real name, originated from Cebu and currently an OFW in Riyadh. In an article from Push, her waggish videos are only masks of a tearful story of her life.
Jean narrated her reasons in ABS-CBN’s Sunday magazine show “Rated K” why she started to post videos in Facebook.
“Kasi pag Middle East po, wala ka makausap. Ikaw lang talaga. Kaya po gumagawa po ako ng video para po yung malungkot sa buhay, kapwa ko OFW, nag-iisa lang din sa bahay at saka mga nagfe-facebook mapanuod po yung video ko.” (In Middle East, you cannot have conversations with everyone, you are alone. That’s why I’m making videos to ease my loneliness and let my co-OFW who are also unaccompanied in their houses to watch it.)
She also experienced maltreatment from her step-father before.
“Mahirap po kasi maging masaya e nasasaktan po ako ng sobra.” (It is difficult to be happy always, I’m deeply wounded.)
With regards to her love life, she met a boy who toyed her when she was fourteen. Though she fell in love at a young age and seems like an infatuation only, the pain of a heartbroken person is impossible not to reminisce.
The aftershocks of the past will never be forgotten for it is marked in her memories. But these “hugot” videos are what makes her a comedienne and could be one of her motivations to release stress.
