With the death of blockbuster director Wenn Deramas, the question that lingers to many people’s mind is, what’s next for Vice Ganda?
Not unknown to many, Vice Ganda and Direk Wenn Deramas are the blockbuster tandem when it comes to comedy films. From “Petrang Kabayo” to the Praybeyt Benjamin film series and the latest “Beauty and the Bestie”, Vice and Direk Wenn shook the movie industry by breaking box-office records of all time. But now that Wenn Deramas has died, what will be the future of Vice Ganda movies, can he still muster hundred million box office sales?
In an interview with Boy Abunda in “Tonight with Boy Abunda”, Vice Ganda shared what’s supposed to be their next project. According to Vice, Deramas had always wanted him to do a superhero movie like Darna. He shared, Direk Wenn had always wanted him to play Darna years ago, but since the original Darna movie is in the offing, their Darna version won’t and can’t be pushed through.
While Direk Wenn technically made Vice some sort of a hero through their Praybeyt Benjamin films, doing a superhero film will be a different one. And knowing Wenn’s success in doing fantaserye and superhero movie in Ai-ai delas Alas’ Volta, this supposed “Darna” film will surely be a hit also.
Adding the commercial appeal of their films, no wonder that project should it happened will also break box-office records. But now that the box-office director is already gone, will that dream project be made into reality through other directors? Or will it remain a dream of Vice and Wenn that will never happen?
