About a month ago, Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna tied the knot at St. James the Great Parish Church in Alabang. The wedding of the couple was one of the hottest topics in Philippine showbiz, ever since they confirmed their engagement in September of last year.
A lot of eyebrows were raised when the engagement was announced. Though Vic and Pauleen have been a couple for four years, people were still talking about the big age gap between them. They were more surprised with the fact that Vic has decided to marry again.
After his failed marriage with Dina Bonnevie, Vic became one of the most eligible bachelors in the country. His string of love affairs since then never really ended in marriage. What made Pauleen different? Why did Vic finally decide to settle down with her?
In an exclusive interview with Jessica Soho in “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” aired last February 28, Vic Sotto revealed all the answers to those questions, which we are sure a lot of people are wondering about.
Vic said he was “ready to be single” for the rest of his life because he assumed that he has kids who will take care of him. But when Danica and Oyo got married, he realized they had their own lives to lead. And then when his son Vico graduated from college and daughter Paulina is also set to get married soon, Vic had to ask himself, “Papaano naman ako?” (How about me?)
The “Eat Bulaga” host said that years ago, he thought “if I find the right one at the right time, then I will ask this girl to marry me.” He added, “And nataon nga, nandiyan si Pauleen. (And it so happens, Pauleen was there.) She was ready to love me and take care of me for the rest of our lives”
Asked what is it about Pauleen that made him realize that she’s “the one” for him, Vic readily replied that Pauleen is very loving. He said it was hard to explain, “pero basta naramdaman ko” (i just felt it). But he also said that he prayed for guidance.
We can’t blame Vic, how can one explain true love when it strikes you? You only really feel it, right? As most lovers know, love is indescribable.
As to their age gap, Vic says that’s a non-issue. He said there is no law against it. “More important is what you feel and what you believe in,” he added.
Now that Vic has finally settled down, he is now saying that being a bachelor is not “in” anymore. He jokingly said, “Mag-asawa na kayo, hoy!” (Hey, better get married!).
Isn’t Vic’s joke shows that the former showbiz playboy is now a very happily married man.
