During the interview of the behind-the-scenes feature of ABS-CBN, James Reid and Nadine Lustre were able to share their thoughts and experiences from the very start when they received the offer for the role of Clark and Leah.
Both of them revealed that they got nervous since that was the first big project of JaDine and it’s way different from the movie set-up they used to do in years in the industry. Their roles are not easy to fill-up since they are showcasing on how OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) survive in foreign land and how to keep up with their loved ones from their home land.
It was only during the interview, PEP and everyone were informed that behind the successful high-rating television series “On The Wings of Love”, the original concept was based on real life experiences of Coco Martin when he worked in Canada.
Building the Characters
Based on the article published by PEP, “On The Wings of Love” was supposed to be a movie, Coco Martin and Rondel Lindayag (Creator of the series) have chosen Superstar Nora Aunor to be Coco’s mother but then the Superstar was occupied with several projects, while Coco cannot afford to take two roles in two different timeslots in ABS-CBN Primetime series due to his current project as SPO1 Ricardo ‘Cardo” Dalisay to the TV remake of “Ang Probinsyano” with Bella Padilla, Susan Roces and Maja Salvador.
Good thing, JaDine love team came in and they were offered to take these roles. That’s the time Coco and Rondel were able to push through the concept of OTWOL.
Coco’s leading lady was either Judy Ann Santos or Sarah Geronimo but then the two (2) well known stars were busy.
From scripts to taping
Benedict Mique, the head writer of the show, shares the pressure he felt back in the days when composing the scripts since he has to come up with something new, unique and with humorous lines. He has to take consideration of JaDine’s film success and not to flop the “OTWOL” TV Series.
Meanwhile, when James, Nadine and Antoinette Jadaone was filming in San Francisco California, Director Antoinette witnessed the chemistry of JaDine during those days when they are shooting in San Francisco, California.
Nevertheless, Coco Martin is a “Jack of All Trades” from conceptualizing stories, giving chances to inactive celebrities, filling-up the characters to his TV series “Ang Probinsyano” and as well as suggesting additional twists like “Paloma” that has a great impact to its audiences.
Coco Martin is truly amazing, admirable and talented! No wonder he continuously receives blessings and projects because of his hard work and his willingness to help other stars to showcase their talents.
