Here is the trailer for Frank David Fabros’ “Straight to the Heart” which also received an X rating from MTRCB.
While his film’s trailer also getting the X rating from the MTRCB, “Straight from the Heart” director Frank Fabros declined to give any reaction or comment on the issue. In the same InterAksyon article, it stated than “Straight to the Heart” star Gwen Zamora posted a reaction on her Facebook page which reads:
“Our movie [the trailer] was RatedX!!! Sa tingin nyo tama? How is this anything close to RatedX? We can have movies with ladies half naked with extremely sexy scenes however a movie LGBT themed gets X rated…”
(“Our movie was Rated X! Do you think this is right? How is this anything close to RatedX? We can have movies with ladies half naked with extremely sexy scenes however a movie LGBT themed gets X rated…“)
The two films has just recently received the X-rating for their trailer but are expected to apply for a second review just like Echorsis.
Earlier in February 18, 2016, MTRCB also slapped an X-Rating on another movie trailer, the gay comedy “Echorsis: Sabunutan Between Good and Evil.” Watch the hilarious full movie trailer here:

Reported on the March 8, 2016 Interaksyon article, MTRCB chairman Atty. Eugenio Villareal sent a letter to the film’s producer Christopher Cahilig of Insight 360that stated that an X rating was recommended as “due to the use of mature and sexually-oriented language which may not be suitable for public exhibition for children below 13 years old.”
Cahilig who later re-submitted his trailer for a second review revealed some idea as to what did the MTRCB find offensive in their film’s trailer, Cahilig shared with InterAksyon that it may have something to do with the part where Odette Khan uttered the line in the film’s trailer, “Malas ang mga bakla!,” (“Gays are bad luck“) wherein Lapus replies with, “Ma, I’m one of them. I’m a straight, curious bottom.
Cahilig also added and revealed…
“I think that whole line got us into trouble because when we re-submitted a new trailer without it, the MTRCB approved it.”
What do you guys think of the two 2016 CineFilipino Film Festival entries and one gay comedy movie trailer getting an X rating? Do you think that there is a double standard within the MTRCB or they are simply being politically correct to a fault?
