ABSCBN’s I Love OPM page receives negative comments after the unexpected exit of one of the show’s crowd favorites, Hawaii’s Jeff James last night March 12, 2016.
During the “Bump Off” round of I Love OPM, the touristars were grouped into four and only two with the highest average score will enter the next round.
The two who will proceed to the Gate 3 of the competition is Nigeria’s Moses Akoh and Korea’s Yohan Hwang as they 94 and 92.3 average scores. Unfortunately, Pretty Russian Girl Anna Rabtsun and Hawaii’s Jeff James got eliminated as they only got 87.3 and 89 respectively.
However, netizens and televiewers took over social media to show their disappointments with the show’s result and flood I Love OPM’s official page with negative comments.
Most of the netizens believes that Jeff James did well in his rendition of “Kung Ako Nalang Sana”, and should have gotten a higher score than 89 and is more deserving to proceed to the next round than Yohan Hwang who sings “Nasa Iyo na Ang Lahat” which they think is a very easy song for a singing competition.
They also said that instead of branding “I Love OPM” as a serious singing competition like “The Voice” , it has become more of a “PaCute” contest.
They also agreed and quoted Gab Valenciano’s previous statements about the Philippine Entertainment industry where he says that “good looks and connections” are nowadays more important than having a real talent.
Because of the negative reactions from the netizens and viewers, I Love OPM rarely post and give an update regarding last night’s episode. They normally post contestants’ performance videos on Youtube right away.
As of this writing, I Love OPM hasn’t posted any episode photos on their page or post the controversial performances in Youtube yet.
