Philippines’ Queen Mother Karla Estrada has defended her son’s decision to endorse Presidential candidate Mar Roxas.
In an interview with PEP.ph, Karla said she expected all the criticisms and bashing that will be thrown at his son and his partner Kathryn Bernardo after endorsing the candidacy of Roxas.
““Eleksyon kasi ngayon, so expected ‘yan” she said.
[It’s election time so that’s expected.]
Daniel Padilla is one of the many stars who thrown their support at the candidacy of Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas for the May 2016 Philippine elections. He was part of the music video Fast Forward created by Billy Crawford, Jay-R and Kris Lawrence.
Padilla also came out on a campaign ad, interviewing Roxas about the current problems of our country.
Because of those ads, Daniel has become target of criticisms from netizens and people who disliked his decision to support Roxas.
But his mother Karla is quick to defend Daniel and his choice. In a statement, Karla assured Daniel that he will not regret supporting and voting for Mar Roxas.
“Sabi ko, ‘Hindi tayo mapapahiya. Wala tayong dapat na pagsisihan kasi kahit saan mo silipin at basahin, walang track record ng pagnanakaw.’
[I told him, we’ll never regret our decision because where ever you look at, there’s no track record of stealing.]
“Dahil ang umpisa ng krimen at poverty ng bansa natin ay ang pagiging magnanakaw at corrupt ng mga politiko. Wala siyang [Mar] track record ng kahit na anong kaso sa Ombdusman, yun lang.”
[The root cause of crime and poverty in our country is stealing and corrupt politicians. And Mar has no track record of any corruption cases in the Ombudsman.]
Karla also shared ABS-CBN gave them go signal for the endorsement.
In the recent years, ABS-CBN has barred their talents from endorsing any candidate, but Karla said they have clearance and that she’s thankful that ABS-CBN allowed them to endorse Mar Roxas.
