If you have never heard of Carrot Man, then you must have been living under a rock for the past two weeks. Nope, he’s not a star witness or what.
Carrot Man is the newest viral sensation on Facebook, whose good looks caught the imagination of many young netizens. Photos of him dressed in a jacket and carrying loads of carrots were shared by thousands of Facebook users, hence the nickname “Carrot Man”.
Pretty soon, Carrot Man was discovered to be none other than 21-year old Jeyrick Sigmaton, a hardworking Igorot whose star quality looks brought him fame on the internet.
Jeyrick was featured on “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” and on other GMA Network shows like “Unang Hirit” and “24 Oras”. In an interview with Lhar Santiago of “24 Oras”, he said that of all arists, he wanted to meet his idol Willie Revillame.
Willie lost no time in inviting the young man on March 3 to his show “Wowowin”. When he asked why Jeyrick loves his show, Carrot Man couldn’t keep his tears in check. He said he found the program delightful and it imparts lessons to the youth. “Tapos natutulungan kaming mahihirap.” (Then it helps poor people like us.)
When asked what he wants, Jeyrick said he wanted to finish schooling, “makaahon sa hirap. Simpleng buhay lang po.” (to lift himself from poverty. Just a simple life.)
Willie then promised Jeyrick that “Wowowin” will answer for his schooling until he finishes college. He said Jeyrick can continue his studies in Baguio City if that’s what he wants.
The “Wowowin” host also gave Jeyrick and his father jackets and cellphones.
Jeyrick did not forget to thank the people who uploaded his photos on Facebook. He said it brought a lot of benefits not only to him but also to the Igorot community, whose image changed for the better because of his viral photos.
Before his visit to “Wowowin” ended, Jeyrick sang one of Willie’s popular songs titled “Ikaw Na Nga”.
Would that be the last appearance of Carrot Man on the tv screen? A lot of his fans hope it’s not. They are looking forward to Carrot Man gracing other shows. They simply cannot get enough of his kind, angelic face.
