The Pop Rock Princess Yeng Constantino-Asuncion posted a video on her Facebook page about her views on homosexuality, prompted by the controversial remarks of Manny Pacquiao saying gays are worse than animals.
Yeng created the video on the morning of February 18, while she was celebrating her wedding anniversary at Palawan with partner Victor “Yan” Asuncion.
At the beginning of the video Yeng said that she didn’t want to add fuel to the fire on the controversial remarks made by Manny regarding homosexuals. But a tweet by someone asking her to make a stand as a Christian against homesexuality, made her mad and become emotional over the issue. She did not mention the name of the person who tweeted her, though.
Her husband Yan asked that they pray first before posting anything on social media and for her to calm down. Yeng said that she cried when she talked to God during that time.

Why is Yeng so affected by the issue of homosexuality?
Yeng revealed that she is a Christian but her brother is openly gay.
(Maybe for some people it is easy to make comments, because they don’t have a family member who’s like that. But for us, it’s not. Because we know how they feel when they are hurt, when they cry. We witnessed that, from childhood up to now.)
Yeng asked forgiveness from his brother who said he got hurt by Manny’s comments. She told him that he should not believe that the world or society looks at him that way, because it’s not true.
The singer-songwriter went on to say, “kung ako nga, may pagmamahal na ganun sa kapatid ko, e pano pa si God, di ba? Pano pa yung Diyos e Sya yung love. God is Love”. ( If i love my brother that much, how about God? How much more with God because He is love? God is love.)
She assured the LGBT community that not all Christians look at them like that (like Manny’s view). Yeng said that there a lot of Christians who are just scared to voice their opinions because they fear being criticized by their fellow Christians.
Yeng relates that she is surrounded by very talented gays in her world, like her stylist, make-up artist, etc. She said, “Kung sila binigyan ng Panginoon ng ganung talento, hindi namili ang Diyos. Ibig sabihin yung pagmamahal ni God sa atin, equal lang.” (If God gave them so much talent, God did not discriminate. It means God loves us equally.)
She reiterated her apology to the LGBT saying, “Sorry on behalf of those Christians who are growing still in compassion.” Yeng said she will not go the route of making a stand against homosexuality because she believes God has given her the ministry of reconciliation.
Yeng’s video has earned more than 2 million views and almost 37 thousand shares on Facebook in just 4 hours. Comments have reached almost 10 thousand, since it has ignited a debate about homosexuality and Christianity.
