Kapuso stars Carla Abellana and Maine Mendoza are now being compared by some netizens for wearing the same dress.
Maine wore the dress in a pictorial for Style Weekend of Manila Bulletin while Carla wore the same at the GMA Thanksgiving Party 2016 held at the Shangri-la Hotel, Makati last February 10.
The dress is a collaborative work between fashion designer Mark Bumgarner and Love Marie Ongpauco-Escudero, commonly known as Heart Evangelista in the world of Philippine showbiz. Heart was responsible for hand-painting the dress with flowers and twigs.
That particular dress was modeled in a Fashion Show Gala on January 18. The fashion show featured 40 gowns and dresses designed by Bumgarner, 15 of which were hand-painted by Heart.
Heart is slowly being recognized as a painter in the art industry. Aside from exhibiting major works in museums, Heart paints one-of-a-kind or limited edition clutch bags. Now, she has ventured into the world of fashion. Her line of hand-painted bags as well as dresses is known as Love Marie.
Maine posted on Instagram a photo of her, clothed in Heart’s hand-painted dress. Afterwards, Heart posted both the photos of Maine and Carla wearing the same dress on her Instagram account, too.
How did fans react to Carla and Maine wearing the same dress?
Unlike the earlier controversy which cropped up last year over Maine and Kim Chiu wearing the same Francis Libiran gown, fans are not reacting wildly over this one.
It is obvious from the reactions that both Carla and Maine have their own set of fans. But a lot of them praised both actresses because they wore the dress well. Fans noted that the difference in their poses as well as the lighting, might have accounted for the slight variation in the way they wore the dress.
