Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao asserted in a recent interview that he is very much against same-sex marriage. The eight-division world champion expressed his disapproval about the issue in words that have elicited a lot of flak from different sectors.
The celebrated boxer is running for a seat in the Senate this coming national elections.
In the much-talked about interview with “Bilang Pilipino”, Manny showed his religious bias. He is known for being very spiritual. But his strongly-worded statement against same-sex marriage put him in a different light.
After saying that a woman is made for a man and vice-versa, Manny said,
“Common sense lang. Makakita ka ba ng any animals [sic] na lalaki sa lalaki o babae sa babae? Mas mabuti pa yung hayop, marunong kumilala kung lalaki o lalaki, babae o babae, o di ba?”
( It’s just common sense. Will you see any animal where male is to male, or female to female? Animals are better, they know how to distinguish between male or female, right? ).

He added,
“Ngayon, kung lalaki sa lalaki o babae sa babae, e mas masahol pa sa hayop ang tao.”
( If it’s male to male, or female to female, then man is worse than animal.)
Pacman’s statements have stirred a lot of netizens and celebrities here and abroad, to give out their own opinions on the matter. Most of them are critical of the boxer’s strongly-worded views about same-sex marriage.
Way back May 2012, Pacman already aired his stand against same-sex marriage, which became highly controversial because he was misquoted. Nevertheless, it remained clear that he objects to same-sex marriage because of his religious beliefs.
