GMA Network’s Encantadia (2016) TVSeries
GMA has officially announced that it will be making another Encantadia television series this year in a recent social media post by Encantadia’s original director Mark Reyes in the official Encantadia 2016 Page.
Encantadia was one of the series that popularized the fantasy genre in Philippine primetime television in the 21st century. For a TV series, it had high production values not normally seen in the usual soap operas. From its stellar cast to a compelling storyline, GMA created a series that viewers loved. After its three-season run, people asked for a sequel even before GMA Network started remaking old shows. It took the latter quite some time before it finally listened to viewers.
A Brief Background:
Encantadia was the grandest, most ambitious, and most expensive TV series of GMA Network which ran from May 2 to December 9, 2005. This was followed by ‘Etheria: Ang Ikalimang Kaharian ng Encantadia’ (‘Etheria: The Fifth Kingdom of Encantadia’) which ran from December 12, 2005 to February 17, 2006, and concluded with ‘Encantadia: Pag-ibig Hanggang Wakas’ (‘Encantadia: Love Until the End’) which ran from February 20 to April 28, 2006. Encantadia succeeded Mulawin and its characters initially appeared in the 2004 GMA telefantasya that started it all. Later, Encantadia’s characters appeared in the 31st Metro Manila Film Festival entry ‘Mulawin: The Movie’ (2005).
Like Star Cinema’s upcomimg Darna film, the new Encantadia only gave viewers a teaser so we have no idea who the cast is made of. All we can do is wait for now.
