The introduction of the ‘Kalyeserye’ to “Eat Bulaga” has brought a new light to the iconic noontime show. Talked about by many households since the month of July, the segment single-handedly increased the views “Eat Bulaga”.
According to the data provided by Kantar Media Philippines, the noontime show managed to more than double the number of its household viewers since the introduction of the segment.
Lead by, Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, backed up by the JoWaPao trio, the segment features a traditional, Filipino couple that not only tickles the hearts of the masses, but also teaches morals along the way.
Wally Bayola stars as Lola Nidora; a character known for teaching proper attitude towards love and waiting for the right time is always important. This has been one of the major strengths of the show and the trait that differentiated it from the many noontime shows today.
As a country that is very close to its tradition, the segment instantly got the attention of the Filipinos. Add in a bit comedic sense injected by the cast of “Eat Bulaga” and you’ve got yourself a top-rated, noontime success.
Fast forward, AlDub has now become a huge success. Million of views are garnered by “Eat Bulaga” each day, along with bulks of sponsors that keep coming in.
The faces of Maine and Alden flooded the streets of the country, the Philippines is now dominated by ‘AlDub’, and the show even went far as to cater to overseas viewers.
The number of viewers keep on growing and growing as the “end” approaches, or where it should’ve ended: October 24, 2015, Tamang Panahon.
The event was a huge success. According to Twitter on October 26, 2015, #AlDubEBTamangPanahon generated 41 million tweets, breaking the record of the World Cup’s Germany versus Brazil match in 2014, which holds 35.6 million tweets.

However, after the historical event, views received by “Eat Bulaga” began to decline.
