The schedule of activities for Ms. Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s homecoming is tightly packed everyday. Ever since Pia came back to the Philippines last Saturday (January 23), she had done courtesy calls to offices of City Mayors, the House of Representatives, the Senate, and Malacañang Palace. A successful Grand Homecoming Parade was also done to pay tribute to her achievement.
But today, Pia went back to her home network, ABS-CBN. She brought a lot of joy to Kapamilya fans when she appeared on “It’s Showtime” and graced the show with her confidently beautiful with a heart persona.
She was escorted by Billy Crawford and had a short talk outside the studio, where hundreds of admirers waved Philippine flags to welcome her. Once inside the studio, she walked around the stage and waved gracefully at the audience.
The studio audience, including “It’s Showtime” hosts, were all wearing blue shirts printed with “Miss Universe”. She was serenaded by Michael Pangilinan and the entire studio with the song “Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko”.

Pia gladly posed for a groufie with the hosts and the studio audience, just before her interview.
She was welcomed warmly by other “It’s Showtime” hosts like Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Billy Crawford, Karylle, Mariel Padilla, Amy Perez and Kim Atienza. Pia immediately said that Vice “blessed” her when she guested at Its Showtime before she went to Las Vegas for the pageant.
She thanked her fans and supporters at the studio and noted their blue shirts. She added, “Thank you din po sa lahat ng mga sumubaybay nung pageant, yung mga gumising talaga nang maaga at bumoto, dahil real-time po talaga ang voting namin noon….Thank you very much at leading po ako sa global fan vote ng Miss Universe, dahil po sainyong lahat” [Thank you too, to all those who followed the pageant, to those who woke up early just to vote, because voting then was real-time…Thank you very much because i led the the global fan vote of Miss Universe, that’s because of you.]
Pia gave an interesting trivia as to why she chose “blue” as her color and its relevance. She said that blue is her lucky color and that the gown looked good in blue. But most of all, Pia said she can remember that time when Kim Atienza told her backstage that the Philippine flag is the only one in the world whose colors can be reversed. In times of peace, blue is on top and red for times of war. That’s why she chose blue, the color of peace.
Ms. Universe also gave tips for all those aspiring to become beauty queens. She said, “Huwag kayong mawawalan ng tiwala sa sarili ninyo. Mag aral kayo nang mabuti, huwag maging pasaway, sumunod palagi at maging magalang sa mga magulang. Dapat pantay-pantay pagtrato ninyo sa isa’t-isa, sa mga beki din. Tapos, syempre wag mawala yung pagmamahal nila sa Diyos, yung pananampalataya nila, yun ang importante din.” [Don’t lose faith in yourself. Study well, don’t be hard-headed. Respect and obey your parents always. Treat everyone equally, including gays. Finally, don’t lose your love for God and your faith in Him, that’s important too. ]
During her talk with the hosts, Pia said, “I am a homegrown Kapamilya” and said that she was very happy when she guested at “It’s Showtime”. She added that she will always be glad to be back on the show.
Towards the end of Pia’s visit to “It’s Showtime”, her mom joined her onstage and both of them sang “Ikaw ang Miss Universe Ng Buhay Ko” with everyone in the studio.
Earlier in the day, Pia held a Media day at ABS-CBN, where she was honored by the network’s top executives. She was so touched by the reception of the Kapamilya and was teary-eyed when she told Dyan Castillejo about her early memories at ABS-CBN. Pia has been an ABS-CBN talent since 2002, when she became a Kapamilya as a member of Star Circle’s Batch 11.
