WATCH – Joey de Leon verbally irritates rival show: “Kawawa ang kalaban.”
If you have been around long enough, maybe a viewer of noontime shows in Philippine television, you might already have formed an idea of how the mind of a Joey de Leon works. Being a veteran in the industry and in the ‘game of life’, he have already a lot of things to say and share.
He is still human in the end. A human susceptible to various irrationality that comes with emotions. Whether his sentiments are out of reaction that may have been initially instigated by the competition, or that which came from him out of his sheer “playful” and “pride” with the popularity and accomplishments of the show, Joey de Leon can freely express it as so. The only problem there is if he wants to openly criticize or poke fun of competition then he should also be open to similar criticism and question on the show that he is IN. We now come back to the tweet we first featured here…
There is a reason why most celebrities have decided to show neutrality or stay silent when it comes to critics (specifically negative criticism), political issues, and other sensitive issues; it could serve as a kiss of death for their careers. The last thing an up-and-rising star has to contend with is supporters growing bitters and non-supporters expressing more hate on their questionable stance and affiliation to specific issues.
With Joey de Leon’s case, there seems to be nothing to lose (when it comes to his career that is), but him being so vocal when it comes to ‘bashing’… (Oh wait let me rephrase that); but him being so vocal when sharing sentiments only that can be affiliated to harshly criticizing the competition, his critics, or the critics of the pride-and-joy of TAPE which is Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards (MaineDen or AlDub) this can actually hurt the very same thing he is asking understanding for.
If to ‘bash’ which he associate to bullying or abusing spawns hatred, then he should be a good example and lessen sentiments that detracts from what he is preaching. To walk the talk.
He has seem to successfully pull it off with Willie Revillame. Do you remember their never-ending tirades everytime they can on their shows? Look at them now? Well, given that Willie is no longer a direct competition and both have privately settled their differences, is there a ‘need’ for Joey de Leon to always be this ‘playful’ or ‘witty’ when making highly questionable statements about the the competition?
Well if he can’t walk the talk, then he should not ask for anything. Joey de Leon should simply enjoy the many pun-filled jokes towards the competition, bashers, or haters. To simply playing around with words and not request for ‘respect’ or ‘understanding’ and let it be an open season for all no exemptions.
