Although “Eat Bulaga!” stilll holds the record of being the most-watched program at daytime, it now shows signs of approaching its saturation point.
As pointed out by Go, “Eat Bulaga!” had a rapidly declining base of viewers as observed on the audited data from Kantar Media Philppines in November and December 2015.
Go said viewership deteriorated rapidly since the GMA Network noontime show was watched by 4 million household viewers on November 28, 2015 and 3.5 million on December 6, 2015.
It further dropped to 3.3 million on December 19, 2015 and on December 26, 2015 down to 2.65 million household viewers. Go’s observation does not include data from AGB Nielsen.
The results of the ratings done by AGB Nielsen also showed a slight decline of viewer percentage in the noontime show.
Go cited two possible reasons for the decline of “Eat Bulaga!’s” ‘Kalyeserye.’
First, Maine ‘YayaDub’ and Alden finally met in person on the grand Tamang Panahon concert at the Philippine Arena.
Secondly, Maine lost her mysterious quality when viewers finally heard her real voice and had a new transformation on the show.
This proves that the Kalyeserye has reached its peak and viewers don’t expect anything more interesting to happen.
The program is experiencing a decline as shown by the Kantar Media Nationwide ratings and AGB Nielsen Mega Manila ratings. It faces more challenges to regain its top spot.
AlDub has been going on for six months and the creative team behind it must come up with a better reason to watch the show.
After a high of 6.2 million that has dropped to 2.6 million households, what can “Eat Bulaga!” do to be on top again? More creativity was suggested by the PEP editorial team.
The station should focus on what viewers need to see, what makes them happy, and make something entertaining to please all ages.
