Coco Martin’s “Ang Probinsyano” is such a big hit, it’s no wonder that Coco is now dubbed as the “Teleserye King.”
Delighted about the success of the series, Coco told a cute story about it, which was detailed in Bandera written by Ambet Nabus.
According to him, during a taping for an episode of “Ang Probinsyano” at Camp Crame, a Colonel approached him and thanked him and the whole production staff. The Colonel said that whenever “Ang Probinsyano” airs on TV, the crime rate goes down.

Though the Colonel may not have presented any statistics regarding his comment, Coco was happy just the same. He was pleased that the show helps the police when it comes to maintaining peace and order.
The effect of “Ang Probinsyano” may likely be compared to a Manny Pacquiao fight. Whenever Pacquiao had a fight, the crime rate goes down since most people are inside their homes, glued to their tv screens.
Pacquiao’s fights get ratings well above 40%, a number which Coco’s “Ang Probinsyano” approximates. Its pilot episode alone hit a high 41.6% based on national TV ratings of Kantar Media. It hit a peak of 42.9% and continues its dominance on prime time, based on Kantar Media ratings.
The last time a a TV series made a big impact like “Ang Probinsyano” was in 2014. If not zero, the Philippine National Police (PNP) believed that there has been another significant decrease in the crime rate in the country between the months of April and June 2014, during the last two months of airing of ABS-CBN’s hit primetime series “The Legal Wife.”
Coco promised that “Ang Probinsyano” will be more exciting in the future to maintain the quality entertainment it gives to viewers.

Just recently Coco unexpectedly dressed up as a woman named Paloma, as he worked undercover in the series. If that doesn’t convince you that Coco will do anything to make “Ang Probinsyano” click, I don’t know what else will.
