Campomanes posted his reaction on Facebook. He said that when he saw the interview that morning, he could not help but react.
You can not separate the character in a show from the person playing the part. The humiliation sticks to his being, not only on the character that he played. Those who have experienced being cursed at know this. Like what one talent said in a message sent to him, the pain remains until the person is old and gray because that individual was not given the chance to stand and fight for his rights.
He also added that what Molina said was not accurate when she said that she only cursed at Alvin, but also humiliated him by saying “Alam mo, ikaw, inutil ka (You know what? You’re useless!)” She reportedly allowed the crew to laugh at Campomanes on the set which he said is a form of humiliation. He said Molina would stop the crew from laughing at the mistakes committed by bigger stars.
Though he appreciated Boy Abunda’s line of questioning, he said there were some missing points that would somehow affect not only the network but the whole industry as well.
“When Cathy Molina said that she feared for her and her family’s safety, in my thinking it is a strategy to gain the people’s sympathy. Between the two of us, who is more exposed to danger? I don’t have a car and I just ride a jeep to and from UP. As what a prominent lawyer explained to me, I’m fighting a dangerous fight; it might even cause my death,” Campomanes said.
In answer to Cathy’s questions why he posted about the incident on social media and why he released the open letter only after her latest movie, “A Second Chance,” Campomanes said:
“We sent a letter of complaint to ABS-CBN more than a year ago, and they had not taken any action. Let’s say, if this whole thing did not become viral, would the network have acted on it? Maybe not.”
He also said that he and Rossellyn have turned down many interviews from the other networks. In spite of what they’ve gone through and because of ‘delicadeza,’ they chose not to release the letter while the ‘teleserye’ and the movie were still running. Had they done it otherwise, the network might think they were out to sabotage them.
In closing, Campomanes said, “we have turned down numerous request for interviews and decided to decline all of them. We don’t want the rival networks to use the issue against ABS-CBN.”
