It looks like AlDub, the phenomenal love team of the year, made up of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, has a bright future considering its epic success “Eat Bulaga’s” ‘Kalyeserye.’
‘Kalyeserye’ has been a major hit among Eat Bulaga followers here and abroad and its popularity comes from good TV ratings. The phenomenal duo can be seen on billboards, TV, and print ads.
Their success has reached its peak that one can help but ask: What will be the future of AlDub outside of “Eat Bulaga’s” ‘Kalyeserye’ portion?
Since last year, GMA Network has been making plans for AlDub. One major project of the Kapuso network is the first AlDub primetime teleserye.
GMA Network Assistant VP for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara looks forward to a TV series that will feature AlDub. In her interview with the Philippine Star, she said- “GMA 7 really wants to give Alden and Maine a soap. But di pa maka-commit sila Mr. Tuviera. The priority for now is Eat Bulaga.”
APT Entertainment is a subsidiary of TAPE Incorporated that handles the career of Maine Mendoza wherein Tony Tuviera is the head honcho. TAPE Inc. is the producer of Eat Bulaga. Alden Richards sole is managed by the GMA Artist Center.
As far as Maine Mendoza’s acting prowess is concerned, her guesting in the Princess in the Palace daytime soap by TAPE Inc. shows she is ready for a teleserye. No one can really guess how long AlDub on Kalyeserye will last or if the love team can be concurrently seen in a primetime teleserye.
Word has it that the AlDub teleserye that GMA Network has in mind would be a light romantic drama and a Tagalized version (Filipino remake) of a very famous Koreanovela.
“Something like that or something that fits them, but we still can’t do it or we can’t confirm it because Eat Bulaga is still the priority.” according to Gigi Santiago-Lara.
GMA Network is also planning a movie starring AlDub but the network is still searching for the right material. All of these are part of the career plan for Alden Richards who is being handled by the GMA Artist Center and future projects such as this is congruent with APT Entertainment of Tony Tuviera.
The plan for an AlDub teleserye might be in its early stage but one thing is for sure. It’s destined to be a huge success, considering that fans are clamoring to see more of Alden and Maine on TV.
