This raised a lot of eyebrows, considering that there are more deserving artists from other movies.
The mystery was solved by Salve V. Asis in her column on Philstar.com. Her source identified only as “Tita D” – one of the MMFF jurors – said Maine won the award simply because the MMFF Festival Committee is made up of AlDub fans.
This was the reason why Maine won despite the efforts of Nova Villa in “All You Need is Pag-ibig” and Lolot de Leon in “Buy Now, Die Later.”
Previously, the MMFF jurors were composed of a janitor, nun, and driver. The identities of the new jurors were not revealed.
