For the first time, Ai-Ai Delas Alas has spoken about the claim of Star Cinema that “Beauty and the Bestie” is the No. 1 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry in terms of earnings. A Star Cinema spokeperson claimed that “Beauty and the Bestie” is the top-grosser on MMFF’s 2nd week run.

Ai-Ai countered this claim and said that “My Bebe Love:#KiligPaMore” is No. 1, though she didn’t give any exact figures.
Ai-Ai stars in “Beauty and the Bestie’s” rival, “My Bebe Love” together with AlDub, one of the most popular love teams today.
Remember that AiAi Delas Alas was previously an ABS-CBN contract artist. Her saying that “My Bebe Love” is the no. 1 film is, for others, an insult. Lots of people are saying that she is ungrateful to her previous network.

Aside from her statement, her Instagram posts have recently been a hot topic among netizens. She posted the quotes “I’d rather be honest than impressive” and “Integrity is telling myself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people.”
People have speculated that her quotes may pertain to ABS-CBN’s alleged way of manipulating box-office results. Some ABS-CBN fans are against AiAi Delas Alas’ claims that she knows a lot about the issue. She didn’t specify exactly what those are but she stated that she strongly believes that “My Bebe Love” is the no. 1 film.

In a screencap obtained by FashionPulis, Ai-Ai responded to a comment on her Instagram account, “YES YOUR RIGHT MADAMI AKONG ALAM.. At ang usapan dito hindi ang utang na loob or kung ano man.. Lahat ng pangit na salita ay blocked at deleted.. Dun tayo sa totoo.. Wala silang alam sa ALAM KO.. TRUTH HURTS HEHE TNX”
From the beginning of the MMFF, there have allegedly been reports about ticket swapping. An unknown number of moviegoers who bought tickets to watch “My Bebe Love” were allegedly given “Beauty and the Bestie” tickets instead; and were even allowed to enter the “My Bebe Love” theaters with “Beauty and the Bestie” tickets. The director of “My Bebe Love”, Jose Javier Reyes, has been vocal about the said issue.
Though the MMFF denied such claims, the issue of ticket swapping persisted. Lately, there have also been claims of different ways of computations in coming up with the box office receipts of a movie as well, like inclusion of taxes and foreign screenings.
