While the whole AlDub nation rejoiced with the presence of Maine Mendoza (aka Yaya Dub) on “Sunday Pinasaya”, something happened backstage that was more dramatic and meaningful.
AlDub fans got wind of what happened off cam when Gladys Guevarra tweeted about how she witnessed Maine Mendoza hug and apologize to Julie Anne San Jose. Gladys also said that Julie Anne cried during that emotional moment when Maine offered her apology for the bashing that Julie has been receiving online.
Gladys was clueless about the whole incident but she remarked how humble and nice Maine was, in making that gesture.
It should be recalled that recently, Julie Anne was bullied online when Director Rich Ilustre of “Sunday Pinasaya” made the terrible mistake when he answered “yup” to a Twitter follower who asked if Julie Anne is the real-life girlfriend of Alden.
Ilustre later explained that out of sleepiness, he thought the follower was asking if Julie Anne was a “friend”, instead of “girlfriend”. When he realized his mistake, the tweet had already become a big, controversial issue. Some fans of both Julie Anne and Maine were already engaged in a word war even before Rich made an apology to all those concerned, including the AlDub nation.
Julie Anne was caught in the crossfire and the bashing on her social media accounts intensified. Even before the Twitter incident happened, Julie Anne has already been receiving some hate comments regarding her and Alden.
The issue didn’t die down even when Alden issued a denial on Twitter regarding his relationship with Julie Anne, wherein he simply said, “Not true…” on December 7.

But with the apologetic hug coming from Maine, perhaps there will now be closure regarding this issue. Maine and Julie Anne are now ok, so let love and peace reign, guys!
