The first BayaniSerye of Philippine primetime’s “Ilustrado” starring Alden Richards, under GMA Network, has won the silver award for the Best Program Opening Sequence in the recently concluded PromaxBDA Asia Awards 2015 held in the Arts House Singapore.
According to the Creative Director Eduardo “Dino” Garcia, they have entered “Ilustrado” in the Promax Global Excellence Award, it was held every year in June, in New York, and they have already considered it as a finalist. Then again, they entered “Ilustrado” in the Promax Asia, which was held in Singapore, then we learned that it has won the Silver Award.
This project was so different from the rest because of the use of projection mapping, it is a visual device that they used for the very first time, its like using an image inside another image.
“We were very proud of it because firstly, it’s a series about our national hero, and then this projection image technology with the twist. There are a lot of beautiful visuals in the film potraying our history, and a big plus was the leading actor was Alden Richards as Jose Rizal,” Garcia revealed.
When asked if they still have other plans of joining other award-giving bodies, Garcia said that this is probably the last one for the year, though they might still be eligible for other awards, but they still need to check if that is correct.
According to Garcia, being chosen as a finalist in the Promax Global Excellence Awards is already a big deal for them, and happy for getting nominated for an Oscar award or an Emmy perhaps.
He also said that in broadcast promotion, “Promax is the one being largely recognized, when you win here, you’re being voted by your peers just like in the Emmys and the Oscars, so we’re really proud.”
This winning has really inspired them more because, tho’ there might have been a lot of Promax winners in the past, but this one coincided with Alden’s winning the Best Actor, then “Ilustrado” won the Best Drama Mini Series at the 29th PMPC Star Awards for TV (Philippine Movie Press Club) held last December 4, 2015.
The Ilustrado promotion team is composed of the First VP of the Program Support Department, Regie C. Bautista; Creative Director, Dino Garcia; Associate Creative Director, Bessie Gonzales; Art Director, Ghani Madueño; Copy Director, Joseph Saguid; and Project Manager, Catherine Ko.
