The disqualification of “Honor Thy Father” starring John Lloyd Cruz in Metro Manila Film Festival may have had some effects on its earnings.
It has become the talk of the town when “Honor Thy Father” was removed from the nominees for the Best Picture category. The director of the movie, Erik Matti, himself expressed his dismay on Twitter about the alleged “organized MMFF”.
John Lloyd’s girlfriend, Angelica Panganiban, aired her sentiment about what happened to John Lloyd’s movie by posting on Instagram, the #DemandForHonorThyFather hashtag. Not only that, she also reposted the carefully written, lengthy message of actor/make-up artist Ricci Chan on Instagram.
Some people are actually mad about the disqualification of “Honor Thy Father,” but not Ricci Chan who made a great move in airing his views.
Instead of making an open letter to rant, he calmly wrote an outstanding message to make people understand what Honor Thy Father’s team is going through right now.
Ricci Chan called on the fans of the artists from different Metro Manila Film Festival entries including Alden Richards, Maine Mendoza, Vice Ganda, Pokwang, and many more.
But in the course of the discussion about Ricci’s letter and “Honor Thy Father” , one Instagram follower of Angelica started bashing AlDub in the comments section. She said that they (described as “pabebe”) will never be able to equal the quality or caliber of John Lloyd’s acting.
The commenter said it is not worth watching “their” movie, obviously referring to the film My Bebe Love featuring the love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.
Angelica Panganiban lost no time in defending the AlDub love team. She said that there’s no need to “hurt other actors” and their fans.
Angelica added that if the same thing was done to one’s idol, one would also feel bad. She said that respect should be given to any artist or actor who gives happiness and inspiration.
