Teen Queen Kathryn Bernardo is presently embroiled in a controversy regarding her religious affiliation, specifically her membership in Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC).
According to the article publish by PUSH, there are a lot of netizens who claim that Kathryn Bernardo is not an INC member anymore, especially since she had done a lot of things which go against the rules of the religious group.
When the KathNiel love team’s endorsement of Mar Roxas came out, Kathryn’s INC membership issue became a hot issue once more. Does her endorsement of Mar also mean that the INC is for Mar Roxas?
Suddenly, what should have been a personal issue has become a political one. We should remember that the INC endorsement is prized by political candidates. The INC purportedly delivers a block vote of more than a million votes for any chosen candidate at the national level.
A certain Daniel Gullos, who appears to be an INC minister posted on Facebook, that Kathryn’s endorsement of Mar Roxas does not reflect the stand of the INC. Gullos stated that Kathryn is no longer a member of the INC.
There is still no official announcement from the INC, though, on whether or not Kathryn is still with the INC.
While the fans and other netizens are very vocal about Kathryn’s issue with the Iglesia Ni Cristo, GMA artist Ruru Madrid has chosen to keep mum about it.
According to Nitz Miralles of Philstar, Ruru, who is a devoted INC member, is careful and does not want to comment about the matter. However, Ruru said he knows it is forbidden for INC members to endorse candidates. Anyone who does so can be expelled from the church. He also said the names of those who are subject for expulsion are announced to the congregation.
Ruru Madrid is sure that he will not be endorsing any political candidate this coming 2016 elections. Aside from the fact that it goes against his religion, GMA Network has also discouraged its artists from making any political endorsement.
During the EDSA rally of some INC members a few months ago, Ruru expressed his support for his church and wanted others to respect their rights, also. The rally inconvenienced a lot of commuters in EDSA, which led to a lot of bashing of the INC online.
Career-wise, Ruru has no problem at all. He is part of the cast of “The Half Sisters” and have guestings every now and then on several programs of GMA Network.
